Narrative
TOPPENISH, WA – An 88-year-old man died Thursday afternoon when his vehicle collided with a garbage truck in eastern Yakima County.
The incident happened sometime before 3:18 p.m. at the intersection of US-97 and Larue Road, which is just north of Winnier Cemetery.
Police say that the unrestrained victim neglected to yield right-of-way at the intersection. Authorities identified the deceased as Juan M. Romero.
The truck driver was not hurt in the crash.
