Narrative:
TACOMA, WA – Six people from Arizona were killed and a seventh was rushed to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash near the Tacoma port on Sunday morning.
The crash occurred at about 11:15 a.m. when an eastbound Kia Forte on Alexander Avenue was broadsided by a BMW SUV heading north on WA-509.
Six people in the Kia suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Another occupant was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.
Both occupants of the BMW were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Troopers say the crash was attributed to speed and one of the drivers failing to stop for a red light; however, the specific driver responsible was not specified.
The collision remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather relevant information.
