Narrative
INDEX, WA – A 38-year-old man died, and two other adults went to the hospital after a solo crash along the highway in Index on Tuesday.
Police say the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. on the westbound side of the highway along the North Fork Skykomish River, on the southwest outskirts of Index.
The investigation indicates that, for unknown reasons, the westbound driver of a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer left the roadway and crashed into a tree, entrapping two passengers and killing the driver.
Medics worked to extricate a 34-year-old female and 31-year-old male passenger, both of whom sustained non-critical injuries.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol at this time.
