TACOMA, WA – A man was killed Friday when his tractor trailer slammed into an overpass support beam on I-5 in Seattle. The incident occurred in the southbound express lanes of the interstate shortly after 11 a.m. A 63-year-old man was driving a semi-truck nearing Mercer Street when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a column supporting the overpass.
The unidentified driver was pinned inside the vehicle and died at the scene.
The events leading up to the deadly crash are unclear at this time. However, traffic delays were reported in the area while crews worked to clean spilt diesel fuel.
