Narrative
ALGONA, WA – A pedestrian died on Wednesday afternoon in Algona from injuries sustained when an 18-wheeler struck them on the highway.
The collision occurred at 12:30 p.m. on the southbound side of WA-167 just north of Ellingson Road, which is just west of the Algona-Pacific Library.
The circumstances of the accident are still under review. Police say the pedestrian died after air transport to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
It’s unclear at this time if the truck driver remained at the scene. Thus far, authorities have not referred to the crash as a hit-and-run.
Officials closed the southbound side of WA-167 in the vicinity of the accident while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene.
