Narrative
SEATTLE, WA – A man died in Seattle Wednesday when a vehicle struck him as he attempted to cross I-5 on foot.
The incident happened around 12:45 a.m. on the northbound side of I-5 just past Mercer Street. This is just east of Lake Union.
The investigation indicates that a 22-year-old man stopped along the roadway after experiencing problems with a tire. He then exited his vehicle and began to cross the interstate when a 2024 Lexus ES struck him.
Authorities say the pedestrian died at the scene after medics attempted to save him. They’ve not yet released the victim’s name, but they say he was from Marysville.
The driver involved in the accident remained at the scene to render aid and speak with authorities. Police do not anticipate charges at this time.
