SHORELINE, WA – One person was killed and another injured in an attempted hit-and-run accident on I-5 on Monday.
Fox 13 reports that the accident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. close to the Northeast 145th Street Exit.
Washington State Troopers say that a Ford F-350 struck a Kia Niro, rolling the vehicle in the impact.
Two persons from the Kia were hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center. The unnamed male passenger, 81, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Kia’s driver, a 71-year-old female, was critically injured.
The truck’s driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot. He was detained by civilians until police could arrive.
He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being transported to Northwest Hospital.
The F-350 driver now faces multiple charges including driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter.
