Narrative
MARYSVILLE, WA – A three-vehicle crash along the interstate in Marysville fatally wounded a state trooper and injured two other drivers.
The incident happened on the southbound side of I-5 near 136th Street Northeast, which is in on the far north side of the city.
The investigation indicates that a southbound vehicle struck the rear of the police cruiser when the latter vehicle was stopped along the shoulder. A third vehicle then struck the suspect’s vehicle.
The collision killed the police officer, identified as 27-year-old Christopher M. Gadd, at the scene.
Medics transported the other two drivers to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol might have been a factor.
