Narrative
SNOHOMISH, WA – A woman died, and a 23-year-old man sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision along the highway in Snohomish Wednesday.
The incident happened around 6:22 p.m. on WA-2 near Three Lakes Road, which is east of the Pilchuck River on the north end of the city.
Police say a westbound 2007 Toyota Highlander entered an eastbound lane on SR-2 and collided head-on with an eastbound 2018 Toyota Sienna, killing the driver of the Sienna. Authorities identified the victim as 55-year-old Tu Thanh Thi Lam.
Medics worked to extricate the driver of the Highlander and to transport him to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Authorities say that drugs and alcohol played a causative role in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing, and information regarding charges is still pending.
