Narrative
DEMING, WA – A 74-year-old woman went to the hospital Thursday after a solo crash along the highway in west-central Whatcom County.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on WA-9 near Marshall Hill Road, which is near the Nooksack Reservation.
Police say that the driver of an eastbound vehicle collided with a tree after leaving the highway. Authorities suspect that the driver may have been under the influence at the time of the accident.
Medics transported the passenger to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
The 45-year-old driver faces a charge of vehicular assault.
